Good Choice Kitchen Makes Good Food 100 Restaurants List

Nov 01, 2019 03:51AM ● By Marilee Burrell
Good Choice Kitchen Vegan Café and Culinary Center, in Ossining, recently made the annual Good Food 100 Restaurants List for its role in promoting good food and sustainable food systems.

“We’re proud to be acknowledged for all our diligent, honest and passionate efforts towards every decision made to operate a sustainable and green restaurant,” says Laurie Gershgorn, chef and owner of Good Choice Kitchen.

Good Food Media Network curates its list based on participating restaurants’ self-reported annual food purchasing data. Restaurants are rated with two to six links—symbolizing links in the food chain—based on the percent of total good food purchases. These purchases support state, regional and national good food producers and purveyors.

“Our goal is to promote transparency and empower people to be aware of where their food is coming from while recognizing the chefs and restaurants who are consciously committed to building a better food system. Every menu choice and good food purchase that chefs and restaurants make affects each link in our food chain as well as state, regional and national economies,” says Sara Brito, co-founder and president of Good Food Media Network.

Good Choice Kitchen offers a full vegan menu, sourcing locally from organic and biodynamic farms. Offerings include breakfast, lunch, dinner, a juice bar, snacks and desserts for dine-in or take out, as well as catering, weekly meal plans, cooking classes and holistic wellness events.
