Z Farms Organic, in Dover Plains, is now accepting enrollees for its certified organic vegetable CSA—this time with new veggies on the list accompanying longtime favorites such as kale, chard, spinach, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, radishes and herbs. The CSA starts on June 1 and ends in November, so what’s in season at the farm will be included in the share. Meat and egg shares are available all year round.

According to farm manager Andrew Wabshinak, the organic vegetables available are lettuce, kale, spinach, radishes, beets, carrots, zucchini, spaghetti squash, tomatoes, cucumbers and chard. Herbs will include dill, parsley, basil, rosemary, sage, thyme and cilantro. The farm also offers a wide variety of meat cuts, such as beef, lamb, goat, chicken and, when in season, turkey. Its egg share offers chicken or duck egg options.

The farm store is open seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.- Monday through Sunday, and 8 am to 4 pm on Monday,  including a “pick-your-own” option. 

Visitors are encouraged to schedule a tour with the farmer to learn about living a healthier lifestyle and eco-friendly approaches to gardening. Z Farms Organic is certified organic by the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York (NOFA-NY).

“Farm tours are available to see our approach with organic practices and how we work with the land,” Wabshinak says. “We’d love for people to come on the farm and be able to learn more about the vegetables and pick their own. Our farmers are always welcoming and glad to share their knowledge. We want to bring awareness to the importance of organic farming and the impact of organic practices.”
