Shira Adler Launches LeHaGen Bio, a New Westchester Agri-Tech Company

Shira Adler

Shira Adler made her mark in the CBD space with Synergy by Shira Adler, the company she founded in 2011, and her book The ABCs of CBD: The Essential Guide, coming out in 2021 with new edits. But now she’s moved on to “something even bigger”—as founder, executive vice president, and chief marketing, communications and culture officer of LeHaGen Bio, a new company that will be headquartered in Westchester.

“LeHaGen Bio is passionately focused on agri-tech innovation and bio-infrastructure—advancing eco-hemp sustainability and plant-based therapeutics, programs and products,” Adler says. Its goal is to create “significant impact across three pillars: medicine, technology and sustainability.”

Her partners include contract research organization Icaria Life Sciences, in Syracuse, led by Adler’s chief science officer, Adam Stein, Ph.D., a Yale-trained X-ray crystallographer and biochemist; and their incoming chief medical officer, Dr. Karymaître Aliffe, a Harvard- and Stanford-trained physician executive now based in Seattle.

The name LeHaGen means “to protect” in Hebrew, Adler says.

“To protect bio—that’s our mission,” she says. “Protecting people and our planet for present and future generations through activity, ability and efficacy. So if people think CBD is the end all and be all, just wait until you see what we bring to the world through our cutting-edge cannabis and hemp research and plant-based medicine protocols. We are taking pharma holistic and healing the world through hemp-derived sustainability technologies.”
