White Plains Library Takes Free Wellness Events Virtual

Arlene Mangialardi

This fall the White Plains Public Library will continue its popular wellness series—including a weekly lunchtime meditation program as well as workshops and presentations on a variety of topics, from ergonomics to mindfulness to immunizations—virtually via Zoom. The library has been expanding its free wellness programming since 2016, with support from the White Plains Library Foundation.

The weekly Lunchtime Meditation @the Library program, a basic introduction to the technique, is offered year-round every Wednesday that the library is open, except for the month of August. Meditations are led by experts in a variety of modalities, such as Andrea Deierlein (Reiki); Laurence Magro (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction); and Seth Zuiho Segall (Zen and mindfulness).

Upcoming workshops include Meditative Drawing, on October 14, with Arlene Mangialardi; and The Science Behind Mindfulness Practice, on November 4, with Laurence Magro. The library has also launched a fall series in partnership with White Plains Hospital. Upcoming programs include Fad Diet or Bad Diet?: A Guide to Eating Well, on October 21, with Elizabeth DeRobertis; and Immunizations 101, on November 19, with Dr. Christopher Robles.

All lunchtime meditation and wellness events for adults, teens or children are listed in the monthly calendar at WhitePlainsLibrary.org. Library programs are free and open to all members of the public, although a few require advance registration (noted on the website.)
