Young People’s AA Group Meets Mondays: At Insight Counseling, Ridgefield, CT.

Elizabeth Driscoll Jorgensen, Director of Insight Counseling

In response to the growing need for accessible substance abuse support for teens and young adults, Insight Counseling is offering a weekly Young People’s AA meeting every Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The Gratitude Group meets at Insight Counseling’s offices at the back entrance of 103 Danbury Road in Ridgefield, CT.

The meetings are open to the public, and their open format, combining speakers and group discussion, offers attendees a chance to share experiences, strength and hope, says Elizabeth Jorgensen, director/partner of Insight Counseling and a clinical consultant at Caron Treatment Centers.

On May , 2015, from 8 to 11am, Insight Counseling and Caron Treatment are also offering a CEU-approved workshop “Treating Adolescent and Young Adult Substance Use Disorder” May 1 from 8 to 11 a.m. at Water’s Edge in Westbrook, CT. The presentation will provide an overview of several substance abuse treatment modalities for teens and young adults, with a special focus on the transtheoretical model. Speakers will also discuss how to work with a family resistance to overcome their resistance to clinical intervention or higher levels of care for young family members suffering from both addiction and psychiatric illness. The $25 per person fee includes a continental breakfast and two hours of CEUs.
