Spring has sprung at Aura Salon, where the color palette for manicures and makeup is in full bloom. According to Leticia Villigran, owner of the Chappaqua, NY, salon, the Essie nail polishes it uses for its mani-pedis has a new line of spring colors, including Perennial Chic, Petal Pushers and Flowerista.

Best of all, Villigran says, all of Aura’s manicure products are organic. Essie nail polishes are free of dibutyl phthalate (DBP), toluene, and formaldehyde, and the stress-fix concentrate and soaking salts used in the salon’s mani-pedis are all Ecocert-certified organic. Their aroma, infused with French lavender, lavandin and clary sage from organic farms, is clinically proven to relieve feelings of stress, she says. Aura offers a 90-minute spa mani-pedi treatment that includes hot stones, an intense moisture wrap and a deep massage on the hands and legs. “In a few weeks we’ll also be launching a new nail polish line called TenoverTen,” she says. “It’s cruelty-free and ‘five-free,’ which means that it doesn’t contain DBP, toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin or camphor.”

Aura also uses Aveda makeup, which has unveiled new colors for spring, as well. Formulated without parabens, talc or mineral oil, the Aveda line combines natural minerals and plant-derived ingredients to nurture the skin. New Aveda hair-care products available at the salon include Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight, which progressively straightens curls with every use, and Smooth Infusion Mask, designed to reduce frizz and keep hair smooth even in intense humidity.
