Spa Owner Writes Book on Getting in Shape: “Basically, it’s the true-life story of a middle-aged woman who was determined to shed the pounds and get in shape, no matter how long it took."

Mary T. Prenon, owner of GreenEarth Organic Facials in Cortlandt Manor, will soon release her first book, I’m Lazy and I Love to Eat, chronicling her 19-year battle with her weight, and how she ultimately lost 50 pounds through healthy living.

In this inspirational yet humorous account, Prenon relates how she struggled for years with portion control, body image, the allure of fad diets, and making time for exercise. The book gives step-by-step advice on how to avoid diet gimmicks, reject a negative body image, get motivated, “work in” workouts, make healthy eating choices, deal with setbacks and maintain a healthy weight.

“Basically, it’s the true-life story of a middle-aged woman who was determined to shed the pounds and get in shape, no matter how long it took,” Prenon says. “It also includes lots of funny stories, poems and some good solid advice on what to do, how to do it and super-easy meal suggestions and preparations.”

Prenon has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Temple University and a background in broadcast and print news, having written nearly a thousand newspaper and magazine articles. She is also a New York State-licensed esthetician and a certified reflexologist.

Currently Prenon works full-time as a communications director and runs her spa business on the weekends. GreenEarth Organic Facials offers European facials, body treatments and reflexology featuring organic, vegan, toxin-free and cruelty-free products.
