Local Lawn Care Company’s Mission has Sustainability at its Root

Green and Serene sustainable lawn care has moved to
Dutchess County, offering weekly or biweekly residential lawn mowing and yard
maintenance, spring cleanup, lawn top dressing and overseeding, yard clearing,
small tree and shrub pruning and fall cleanup, including leaf removal. They
provide these services without the use of fossil fuels, and apply sustainable
methods to keep yards looking good. Owner Ralph Spafford says, “Our mission is
to provide professional quality lawn mowing services while doing the least
amount of harm to the natural world.”
Green and
Serene’s machinery is state-of-the-art, battery-powered, commercial-grade
equipment, so they do not require gas or oil like conventional lawn maintenance
equipment. This is great news considering that, according to the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, 5 percent of emissions in the United States
actually come from lawn mowers powered by fossil fuels.
Spafford is
serious about cutting greenhouse gases, so he charges his equipment via solar.
This means the result is fresh cut grass with no fumes, spills or emissions,
and less noise; a viable, beautiful, safe natural landscape for families and
pets to enjoy. He studied sustainable landscape management at the New York
Botanical Gardens and he offers free evaluation and estimates. “After an
initial consultation, we can set up an annual plan to make sure your yard is
always at its best,” he adds.
