The Yoga Teachers Association Welcomes World-Renowned Experts for Upcoming Workshops
Yoga Teachers Association (YTA) of the Hudson Valley will
kick off its 2023-2024 season on September 9, 2023, with a virtual workshop, titled The
Art of Yoga with Weights. It will be led by Sherri Baptiste, the
California-based founder of Baptiste Power of Yoga and author of Yoga with
Weights for Dummies, and is appropriate for practitioners and yoga teachers
alike.
During the
workshop, Baptiste, a certified yoga therapist and instructor, will demonstrate
how to incorporate light weights into a yoga class and/or personal practice.
This unique approach is supportive of healthy postural alignment, metabolism,
bone density, core strength, balance and more.
In April, YTA
will welcome Doug Keller, one of the world’s foremost authorities on anatomy as
it relates to yoga, at Club Fit, in Briarcliff Manor. He will explore our
often-neglected feet and their importance in creating a strong postural
foundation to reduce muscle tension, postural imbalances and fatigue.
Other
topics this season, which runs through June, include Self-Regulation and the
Bhagavad Gita and A Spiritual Approach to Your Livelihood. Workshops will be
held in person and/or via Zoom in order to accommodate both instructors’ and
participants’ preferences.
YTA is a
volunteer-run nonprofit. Membership is open to studio owners, yoga teachers and
all practitioners. Workshops are held the second Saturday of the month, from
1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Continuing education credits are available for most
workshops.
Cost: $45 members, $65 nonmembers. For more
information, email [email protected] or visit YTAYoga.com.
