The Fellowship Community Could Become Your New Home

The Fellowship Community, in Chestnut Ridge, which serves the needs of elder members through the various phases of aging by offering independent apartment living as well as providing direct, one-on-one care in Hilltop House, is now accepting new member applications to join their community.

“We have limited apartments available, so put in your application soon to join our waitlist,” encourages Mia Bieber, office manager for the Rudolf Steiner Fellowship Foundation, a 501(c) nonprofit that is responsible for the Fellowship’s operations. “We have beautiful newly renovated and unique apartments.”

Founded in 1966, the Fellowship was conceived as a new model of eldercare based on inter-generational participation and the humanistic philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, known as anthroposophy. Senior residents are highly engaged in community life, where the striving of the young is met with the wisdom of the elder, living and working side by side. The community offers many ways for residents of all ages to learn and grow together.

“Members are able to age in place all the way through to the end of life in a loving, homelike environment,” Bieber explains. “The Fellowship stands out as a more human, less institutional approach to care for the elderly through community living in a beautiful, natural setting. We are located on 80 acres of farm and forest.”

Application fee: $150. Location: The Fellowship Community, Hungry Hollow Rd., Chestnut Ridge. For more information, call 845-356-8494, ext. 2, or email [email protected]. Visit FellowshipCommunity.org for more information.
