As a NY-licensed midwife, Sadie Moss Jones doesn’t just coach women through labor and delivery. She cares for women at all stages of life, from those needing routine primary care (like Pap smears, breast exams and treatment for simple health concerns) to those who are pregnant or postnatal.

Jones conducts prenatal care at her office, Hudson Highlands Midwifery in Beacon, NY, and attends births within a one-hour radius of there. Prior to opening the Beacon practice in 2010, she was a midwife in New York City. She says she’s seen more and more women choose home births over the past few years. “Many of my clients feel they will labor more easily in the comfort of their home and prefer having just one provider throughout the perinatal period,” she says. “Many women come to me after having fully researched the benefits of homebirth.”

Kathie Malcolmb, whose daughter Jones delivered, says, “During labor, Sadie was very in tune with my needs. She knew when to leave me alone and let me do my own thing, and when I needed support. I never felt like she was watching the clock.” She says Jones also helped her through the early days of breast-feeding.
