Centenarian Master Yogini to Teach Briarcliff Workshop: 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., June 8, at Club Fit, in Briarcliff Manor

Tao Porchon-Lynch

Yoga Teachers Association (YTA) of the Hudson Valley will offer yoga teachers and students an opportunity to practice with master yogini Tao Porchon-Lynch from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., June 8, at Club Fit, in Briarcliff Manor.

In her workshop, Eternal Youth through Yoga, “100-years-young” Porchon-Lynch will use the four pillars of yoga—pranayama (breath work); mudras (gestures); bandhas (energetic locks); and chakras (energy centers)—to explore the potential of the body to renew, heal and revitalize. She will also share her special “yoga tango” and subtle techniques that are not taught anywhere else.

As she shares stories from her life and lessons she has learned from her journey across multiple continents, participants will discover her approach to overcoming obstacles and living mindfully. Still actively teaching yoga and enjoying ballroom dancing, Porchon-Lynch motivates others with her positive thinking and her living mantra, “There is nothing you cannot do.”

She started practicing yoga at age 8, and her teachers included the Maharishi to BKS Iyengar and K. Pattabhi Jois. She founded the Westchester Institute of Yoga in 1982 and has shared her wisdom in many ways, including at the Newark Peace Education Summit with his Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and in a TEDx talk at Columbia University.

This is the final workshop in YTA’s 2018-19 program year. The 2019-20 season will kick off with Ravi Singh on September 14.
