Empowered by Nature owner and registered herbalist Lorraine Hughes is offering the third class in her Herbalism and Immune Health series on November 4, 2023, from 2 to 5 p.m., in Fishkill. It will explore why we don’t get better and the roadblocks that obstruct attaining vital health, as well as provide steps we can take to help resolve or diminish health challenges with dietary, lifestyle and herbal intervention.

“There will be a discussion of ‘long everything,’ which is usually driven by underlying imbalances, high viral load, blood sugar dysregulation, gut dysbiosis, which in turn will evolve into chronic illness,” says Hughes, whose scope of practice focuses on preventive health, chronic illness, and diet and stress-reduction techniques including reflexology and qigong.

“The mission of this series is to return back to basics with daily health practices, inclusive of herbs, diet, lifestyle, movement and community,” explains Hughes. “This includes embracing the plant medicines that we have in our own backyards and integrating both the Western and Asian philosophies to better understand why we get sick and how to slow down, and in some cases, reverse the process of chronic illness.”
